Sunny and 75: girls trip 2021

I’m back to blogging! And today I’m going to share my first ever girls’ trip (I know, how did I make it to my mid-twenties without ever going on a girls trip?).

Earlier this year, my husband was planning a guys trip with his brothers and I thought, "Well if you’re vacationing with the boys, I’m going somewhere with the girls.” So, I texted my sisters-in-law and, after a small debate, we decided on San Diego. My sister Katie flew from DC, I flew from Iowa, and we picked up Eunice (and baby Tori) in Las Vegas, before landing in sunny SoCal.

Here’s where we went and what we did (spoiler alert: we loved everything).

Where we stayed

We chose an Airbnb in Little Italy, about 10 minutes away from the airport. Our place came with a warning that it was in the flight path and we didn’t fully comprehend until we got there, just how loud the airplanes would be as they flew over us. It was still a great place to stay, though! Walking distance to the marina and dozens of restaurants and fun places.

Where we went

We didn’t plan a whole lot in advance, and it ended up being just the go-with-the-flow kind of vacay we needed. We knew we had to see the beach, and anything else would be the cherry on top.

To see the ocean we drove over to Coronado Island. There were some cute shops and a really good gelato place, but mostly we sat in the sand, drank Vizzys/ La Croix, and watched Tori crawl toward the waves.

For our outdoor adventure the next day we visited Torrey Pines State Park. It was really cloudy that day so we didn’t get a great view of the beach, but it was a really fun and beautiful hike nonetheless. Plus, we ran into Krystal from The Bachelor / Bachelor in Paradise so that was funny (Eunice recognized her but I had to Google her after we left).
